our story:

The Open Hands Project began with a simple observation: countless young people were full of talent and ambition, yet faced immense barriers like unemployment and homelessness that left their potential untapped. It started when a small group of volunteers began distributing meals, clean water, and basic supplies to young people struggling on the streets. They quickly realized that while immediate support was critical, lasting change required more — opportunities, guidance, and connection to meaningful work. Inspired by the difference even small acts of help could make, they came together to create The Open Hands Project: a mission-driven initiative focused on giving young people not just what they need to survive, but the tools, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive. From handing out a sandwich to helping a young person land their first job, the project has grown into a movement committed to unlocking potential, restoring dignity, and opening futures.
